The Lilac-Breasted Roller (Coracias caudatus) is my favorite bird in Kenya. It is not rare, although it is typically found in trees and large shrubs so if the area you are in is treeless you probably won’t find one. It has an elegant profile and is a swift flyer, but the real beauty of this bird is its incredible palette of colors. It really is striking. Here are a couple of my favorite shots of the lilac-breasted roller. I will be on the lookout for it the next time I am on safari. Cheers, and thanks for looking!
