Wood Storks and Egrets at the Harley Davidson Rookery

By May 13, 2024September 13th, 2024Birds, Florida

While I was in the Tampa area to photograph Roseate Spoonbills at the Alafia Banks, I made a couple side trips to see the bird activity at the Harley Davidson rookery.  This is a cool spot, behind the Harley Davidson store with a couple large trees situated in the middle of a small pond providing great nesting territory. The most prevalent species I saw were Wood Stork, Blue Heron, White Egret and Anhinga.  Nobody was around and I could sit in the shade with my rolled tacos and enjoy the activity of birds arriving with nesting material, preening and socializing with their chicks.  I will definitely return to this rookery if I visit Tampa in March again.  Cheers, and thanks for looking!
